Often used to imitate the tastes of barrel aged beers, these chips can be soaked in spirits before adding to the beer for another layer of flavor. It is important to monitor the beer or wine’s progress and separate the oak chips once the desired flavors have been achieved. Mostly meant for wine in place of oak barrels, however can be used to provide a natural oak flavor to beer as well |
