| Some fruits used in wine making do not contain sufficient levels of acid on their own and the recipe will call for additional acid.Malic acid is an organic compound which is the active ingredient in many sour or tart fruits. Most often associated with green apples which is the flavour it imparts in wine. Malic acid also helps to speed up fermentation.Add Malic Acid to fruits or flowers that are low in acidity in home brew wines as per your wine recipe. Used to increase acid in wine. Add 1 teaspoon per 5 litres as required. |
